The Eyesight System will debut on the 2013 Legacy and Outback models, and will later be equipped on other products in the Subaru line up. The new EyeSight system integrates a number of key safety features. Adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and vehicle lane departure warning all work together to provide maximum protection on the road.

How does this safety system work? EyeSight uses two cameras, specially developed for Subaru; Eyesight is mounted inside the car on the upper edge of the windshield. This helps to reduce the potential for damage more so than bumper-mounted cameras, such as radar. Information from the camera is sent to the Eyesight computer, which is hooked up to the car’s braking system and electronic throttle control. Eyesight can even detect pedestrians in front of the car if it is going under 19mph and will slow down the car or even bring it to a complete stop!
